Erin Henson is a bored and frustrated college student. Her mother’s aging hippie friend, Len Rosen, is leaving on an extended trip to India, backpack-style. The two meet, sparks fly and she seduces him into taking her along. Arriving in Thailand the pair embark on a very sweet, romantic and steamy relationship.

In India they travel into the Himalayan foothills, visiting pilgrimage towns and attending a Buddhist retreat at an ashram in Rishikesh, serenaded by the river. But their days of carefree love and adventure are rushing to an end.

Erin’s ex and high school sweetheart, Ricky Turcott, is a wealthy and emotionally disturbed computer hacker. Discovering their plans, he follows them to Asia, slowly revealing his unsettling presence. The story unfolds over three lunar cycles as their trajectories come together in an explosive climax in the ancient city of Varanasi.
